Pretty amazing that we blow about $700 Million at NEI at NIH each year, and they produce what? Nothing. Well, they spend all that money, a lot of it is wasted on sprucing up their offices and paying people who have retired, but are back on staff as (much over paid) "contractors". It's a game they play across the Federal Government. It's a buddy system that eats up the budgets. Totally legal.  Ought to be stopped? 

Meanwhile, the rest of the world makes groundbreaking advances.

Been listening to their hate talk on C-Span today, and the only real common ground I have with them (the Tea Party) would be a balanced budget ammendment. Hell yes! And where were you 31 years ago when Reagan got the debt ramped up? Don't make me post another graph...you know I can and it will be the blatant truth. So where were you??

Clinton balanced the budget and no one cheered. I didn't like Bill's off hours conduct, but he did balance the budget. He had help, so lets do that again, please? Cut the hell out of NIH ($55BN) and NSF ($7.5BN). They are about the most useless branches of "government" we have today.

I guess they could be working on a grant from NIH though, they do a lot of those. But the amount of research within NIH is vast, and besides the Human Genome project, I don't hear a lot of positive results out of them.

Looking at the NCI budget (est) for 2009, they have over $3B going to research grants and that leaves over $1.5B to use right there at NIH, so what are they doing with all that??

The Network Is Down

It got no press (because people don't like to admit to these problems) but a DOS attack took down the Internet for NIH on Monday this week, which in turn killed the DHHS web site and almost all of the NIH web sites. It was apparently an attack on one machine inside NIH, strange shit eh?? I am probably breaking some law with this info, right?

At first I heard it was human error on the firewall's configuration. Hmm, what is the truth here? We will probably never know.
