Update: Someone commented that the US side of GM wouldn't spend money in Europe to fix Opel. Um, GM is the sum of it's parts and GM is based in the US, so....

no U.S. tax dollars going to Europe - like it is the case with GM China whose profits make up for part of GM's losses - Opel has more potential than Chevrolet for instance since Opel's product lineup is more suitable for these market conditions
