Comcast Throttling

Oh, so tough to see the facts....

Here I am streaming Hawaii 50 from CBS (not a Comcast company)

This is me streaming Perfect Couples, a NBC show (a Comcast company)

Comarison of the two, the CBS feed maxed out at about 2.5% of total bandwidth every 10 seconds.  The NBC feed provides about a 2% total bandwidth almost continuously.  The peaks are commercials.  The dips are my lack of clicking "continue" after the commercial.  You are "throttled"...

Comcast Strikes Back

That ruling about them getting in trouble for slowing down certain Internet traffic, was overturned today. The DC Fed Court Of Appeals saw it fit to not just do that, but also proclaimed that the FCC had no authority to stop Comcast (or any provider) from charging customers based on usage, or limiting anything they like.

Basically, the service providers now have the ability to restrict any content they like (such as this blog posting). It gives them all the restrictive capability that China has.

The catch was a Supreme Court ruling that a bundle Internet/Cable service is called an "Information Service" and a company that offers these separately are deemed "Cable Internet" providers. They totally disregard the intent of the law and now force Congress to fix it. I will hold my breath...

The problem NOW is, in many locations, there are very limited options on where to get your cable and Internet services from. So if a certain one decides to screw us, we have little or no recourse. If more than one does that, we could be totally screwed.

Comcast Blows

Just to clarify, this is a %40 increase (quite a trend line!), and I have not added any services or features. Just this month they turned on something called DVR Service w/ HD, that I never asked for and was never told about. Dish or Direct TV need to call me tomorrow...

Comcast Personal Web Pages

What a useless bunch of crap! I just wanted to post a PIC and a MP3 of a 911 call (public domain) and I can put them in folders, but no one on this earth can link to them, because Comcast can't write instructions to save their ass. Their "forums" are a joke too.
