Suspending This Blog

I have a few days off, so I will not even be thinking of posting anything till next week.

If I try the posting interface then, and Google/Blogger has not fixed the nearly useless editing interface, this blog may disappear.

If you fear that happening, please leave a comment below, telling Google/Blogger to fix their damn web site, and stop trying to crunch all the data in every post, as it happens. It is maddening what they did to up who use this service.

If I move to WorldPress, I will post a link. As my last entry. Have a nice weekend all.

Contact your Senators!!!!!

Congress could have easily fixed this piece of crap. Besides going after anyone doing the slightest bit of forum downloads (even if you thought it was not copyrighted), they will hold the ISPs harmless for sharing your personal information (bye Constitution). It's like a legal conspiracy to screw Americans. Regardless, there are already adequate laws in place to protect intellectual property.

They are even giving security clearances to ISP personnel (and I assume telecoms), which makes sense since they will have access to some threat database. I think this also gets around that pesky 4th Amendment.

I support the part of the bill that want's to strenghen the internet's infrastructure, and share knowledge of vulnerabilities across ISPs and Government. Pass that.

The Experiment

It's a movie with Forest Whitaker. Pretty fucked up story. Pretty shitty director. Awful music. Acting was ok, there were some intense scenes.

The film is really a waste of time, and of film. It's a remake. I hear the original was better.

The Bathroom Fan

Mine blew up this week. It was a Nutone fan that replaced the original fan, that had worked for over 20 years (built in the USA). So when it burned out last July I bough a new Nutone fan with a 1 year warranty. Now it has burned out after only 13 months.

Where is this one made? Guess anyone? China. The quality of the merchandise from over seas is crap, start looking for the USA label!! Lets get back to building things.

The John Bo[eh]ner Newsletter

So I get this newsletter from Congressman Boner, it's pretty funny. He doesn't offer anything positive, and if you look at the suggestions of the GOP, a lot of them are being adopted. So I am not sure what's got Mr Boner so riled up?

He mentions Ohio's unemployment rate is at 11 percent. Hmm, this really spiked after a creeping rise in 2007/2008. If you look at the last 2 quarters of data from Ohio, they are overall flat. So, um, are things not better than the big spike that peaked in July 2009? It's not getting worse is it?

He also talks about cutting spending, but his guys killed a plan for a commission to look at really doing that. They killed it after sponsoring it, because (they say) it included looking at tax increases. In reality, they just want no progress at all in Congress, for anything.

John: It is blatantly obvious to everyone in the world, except you and the GOP, that we have not been paying ENOUGH taxes to cover our costs (the spending you mostly approved). You are as guilty of 'generational theft" as anyone on the hill. And calling Congress "the hill" has lost it's luster. You have turned it into more of a "hump".

ADS Tech

I HIGHLY suggest anyone thinking of buying something to convert those old VHS tapes into a file you can put on a CD, STAY AWAY FROM ADS. Their software is crap and their tech support is utterly useless. I have tried to get the VideoXpress device and Instant DVD working on two computers (Vista and XP) and they are both coming up with a DV0001 error. Looking around the net, a lot of others are having the same problem.

Their "support" site is useless. Don't buy their crap, try another vendor.
