End Of 2010

Last post of the year...maybe?

I guess I would just encourage people to leave a comment here, and let me know who you are.  What you like, and don't.

Looking ahead; 2011 should be a better year, economically, here in the US.  I can only hope Obama can keep eeking out successes, maybe with some valid ideas from Congress (not scummy lobbyists). The big spending has got to stop though.  It's just a matter of a few years, before we CAN'T borrow all that money.  Then the shit will really hit the fan.

Taxes have to go up, and waste/failed programs need to change, or end.  Once we get rid of the National Debt, we can cut taxes dramatically.  Hopefully Congress will pass a real binding balanced budget rule.  No more over spending..  I don't have a lot of hope though.  America won't fail because of its Constitution, but if it does, it will be because that document didn't account for greed.

TV On The Radio

I can't believe this has less than a 1/2 million hits?

Interview: Michigan's Outgoing Governor, Jennifer Granholm

I have so much respect for the job Governor Granholm has done, to trudge Michigan through the mess of the last 8 years. The problems there started back around 1977. It's why I won't go back, except to visit.

http://www.freep.com/article/20101230/OPINION05/12300429/1318/Exit-interview-Jennifer-Granholm

Sad thing is, a whole lot of people in Michigan are too stupid to see what she accomplished.  That would be avoiding bankruptcy for the State...

The Continuing Resolution...

Since Republicans in Congress blocked the proposed 2011 Budget at the last minute (after working on it secretly all year), the branches of the Federal Government are stuck in time, right through March 2011. The time they are stuck in is October 2009 for them.

Because of what Congress did, NASA (just one example) has to continue funding a project that President Obama killed. They have no choice. It's only a $500 Million, no big deal.

The intersting thing about the video, is he practiced playing/singing at 1/3rd speed and they shot the video with no CGI, well done.

US FCC Net Neutrality Rules

My take on the FCC rules that came out last week:

"No big deal". It basically keeps things as they as now.  If you think of all Internet connections as pipes, you have a garden hose going to your house.  A company like NetFlix has a lot of 40 inch water mains connecting to their servers.  What these rules do is stop ISPs from charging one person with a garden hose connection, any more or less, based on how full it is on average.  The same for companies with larger pipes.

I don't mean to equate an intangible thing like data, to an actual commodity, like water, it's more to provide something that can be visualized.  This heads off ISPs plans to start charging a base fee (what you pay today) and increase that charge based on your usage.  So if two people have identical Internet connections, the one who watches a lot of video, won't pay more than someone who does not.

My Top 15 Albums Of 2010 (Countdown 5 to 1+1)

5 Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (City With No Children)

A re surprize that they don't have an official video for this song??
Hard to choose a song to share, a sure sign of a great ambum! Getting a lot of buzz too...

4.5 (Yes, I have no discipline) Broken Bells (The Ghost Inside)

Broken Bells - The Ghost Inside from Southbank Centre on Vimeo.
Another great debut album from early this year. I was not a fan of the CD's "small print", as it was unreadable.

4 Royksopp - Senior (The Drug)

3 The Books - The Way Out (Thirty Incoming)

Read up on this band/album, they are unique. My pick for Most innovative Album of the year. Best listened to with headphones and the CD.

2 Hot Hot Heat - Future Breeds (21@12)

Jump to minute 3 if you don't want to watch the unnecessary intro. Made me laugh though. BTW, if you like this, check out their Elevator CD. Canadian's can Rock eh?? We knew that, and this song name is a homage to Rush's 2112.

1 Eliza Rickman (Black Rose)

My number one newbie, she is in the studio right now (with a big assed piano) and I expect most people will know her name in the next few years. She sings like Lena Horne did, full throttle.

9 Robyn - Body Talk (Indestructible)

She IS the next Madonna, if Lady Gaga can handle the competition?

8 The Grates - Teeth Lost, Hearts Won (Aw Yeah) Still grating.

The Grates - Aw Yeah from Ewan MacLeod on Vimeo.

7 Super8&Tab - Empire (Empire)

SUPER8 & TAB : EMPIRE from Ian Gamester on Vimeo.
Great dance electronica/trance. Another CD I had a very hard time picking a single song off of...

6 Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11 (Hanuman)

It's a very 'linear' CD, lots of passion, but before it's over you want to smash damn the disk (small doses). They need some vocals, but a great debut.

Full Video - Florida School Board Shooting 12-14-10

I guess it's as much of the video as possible? Next thing was the shooter getting popped.

Why? His wife got fired. His unemploment ran out. He was mad about higher taxes (why? He was unemployed, duh). This is so, the product of Glen Bleak, Hannitduh and Rush Lamebaugh.

Then the "SWAT Team" shows up and breaks all protocols by not securing the room...

Voyager 1 Is Almost Done

What a fantastic career, and mission. As it left the known realm of our solar system, she looked back at Earth and snapped this picture.

So that's us, pretty miniscule.  Insignificant.  You would think, that with that kind of perspective, we would see how alone we are.  See the futility of greed, which most rich/powerful people don't understand until they are near death.  Guess what, you still died; And your greed did nothing to better life on the pale blue dot. See the futility of power and war, it only weakens us as a whole.

If anyone comes to see what we are all about, this is the first thing they will see.  They would probably pick up TV and Radio broadcasts first.  I would hope that would be enough to get them to turn around.

After fleecing Americans on getting their homes, and now tossing them out, the Banks want the Assets! That way, when they let the economy improve, they can let us little people buy back into the houses the banks hold.

It's the tail end of a money making swindle that stands unmatched in all history. And the orchestrators are the same assholes that want extra tax breaks. I don't know what else to call this, but sheer "Class Warfare".

Senate Votes On Tax Increases

So the US Senate had a vote to (two actually).  The first was to move to a vote on extending tax cuts to middle class American families making $250,000 per year, or less.  That failed.  Then a vote was taken on extending tax cuts to middle class American and families making $1,000,000 per year, or less.

All the Republicans and the following "Democrats" (including and back stabber Lieberman), voted no;

Durbin (D-IL),
Harkin (D-IA),
Rockefeller (D-WV),

This was not good enough, the billionaires can't pay more (the poor guys)!  And none of this is paid for, it will continue to drive the country into debt, while unemployment benefits run out for many people.  It runs out because the Republicans complained that it was not paid for.  Hypocrisy?  Ya think?

I hope America is happy?  Had a good time voting in 2010?  See what we have to look forward to?  Another round of middle class americans (and that is in lower case on purpose) being driven into or closer to poverty, while the rich, just get richer.  Well fucking done, people.  You shot yourselves in the foot, and the limping is just around the corner.  It starts in January 2011.

Debt Commission = FAIL

Ok, you guys make huge "cuts". So huge, they can lower the deficit by $3.(something) Trillion over 10 years? Brav-fucking-o. We are running a deficit of over a Trillion dollars a year. This gets us NOWHERE, except $7 Trillion deeper in debt. It also gives big business huge tax breaks, but does nothing to pull jobs back from Asia and South America.

Thanks for your time, you are excused...

Since I despise complaining about a problem, without offering a solution;

Revise the tax code (Income Vs Tax) with zero deductions:
30-40K = 7% FLAT
40-60K = 11% FLAT
60-90K = 14% FLAT
90-200K = 17% FLAT
200-600K = 16% FLAT
600-2,500K = 15% FLAT (they are paying a lot more overall)
2,500k-INFINITY = 12% FLAT. (they can pay in gold ingots)

Some cuts:
Cut the Executive Branch 20%, FLAT (they will get just as much done, which is about zero)
Cut Defense 20% FLAT (close bases that are barely used and consolidate the rest, trim programs. Get out of Germany, South Korea and Okinawa.)
Phase out Social Security over 20 years (priceless)

Guess what? We have a balanced budget, plus a surplus! Once the National Debt is near nill, Congress can taper off all the percentages.  We can have some prosperity, for our kids and grandkids.

John Conyers' Crooked Family
