Where'd The Money Go?
Now that we are at the tail end of the massive redistribution of America's wealth to the top earners, I thought I would toss in my perspective on it.
2002-2006 = Mortgage companies (and Realtors) go insane selling homes, by getting people to borrow money from their families and adjusting tax deductions upward. A failure cocktail. Adjustable rate mortgages rule..
2003-2008 = Banks buy up the mortgages and bundle them into "commodities". Which they sell shares for, to rich people at first (they get in at the bottom), then to pension plans and 401K managers next(not at the bottom). The late buyers inflate the prices, and the homes market rockets. The banks also hedge on these "commodities" going bust, selling that deal to the ultra rich.
2005 = I cash out my 401K and pay the tax of 13% on that.
2007-2008 = Big businesses start mass layoffs, allowing them to start saving cash, and their rich owners (mentioned above) sit back and watch. All the rich people see that the number of foreclosures are starting to rise (due to the unemployment they just created), so that triggers their sales in the "commodities" (they make a mint because all the 401K plans inflated the price). This tanks their value, and the value of the homes. This also pays off the Hedge Funds that hedged on the "commodities", and they make a mint from the banks. The 401K retirement plans don't even try to cash out their shares, and lose 40%-60% of their value. Yes, you were bent over the whole time. TAKING IT.
2009 = The banks that did all this in the first place, get bail outs from the very people they just fucked over, that would be YOU.
2009-2010 = The banks begin a mass foreclosure campaign (bit-o-controversy) so they can take back all the "assets" (homes they sold to people they knew couldn't afford them) and now wait till their value to appreciate, then flip them later for another profit. They also pocket any cash home owners have paid to date, free of charge.
Through every step of this debacle, the rich have harvested what little wealth there is, from the middle class and poor (your retirement and savings). No one has done shit to make it right. We have been played and no one did a thing to stop it. You can change that though.
Don't let the big banks do it to you again. Get your money out of any retirement account of any kind, and put it into long term CDs. Get away from the big banks, and into Credit Unions or smaller local banks. Save some cash and pay off your credit cards, so you don't get screwed with fees (knuckle down and do it, I did).
Leave these greedy bastards to feed off each other, and not YOU. PEACE.

We were talking about this at work today, and a lot of people think it was a Chinese boat sending off a test missile. I can't think of what they would gain from it. The US hasn't threatened them militarily, at all.
Totally different for North Korea. They could sneak a diesel Submarine into those shallow waters, broach the surface, and fire one of their long range missiles into the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Then sneak away. Surface at night and run the diesel...
Not to hard to double up the battery and charging capability, to run longer and faster, under water.

An Open Letter To The LEFT
Ok, you are not happy about the elections, I get that. So what went wrong?
I can’t say this is happening everywhere, but here where I am, the young 18-25 year olds are not registering to vote. They are all afraid of having to do Jury Duty. I blame the parents for this, and listening to other youth.
The black vote didn’t turn out. I heard more than one black voter say “I have no reason to vote this year”. Um, really? The black vote is a huge reason Obama got into office. Why the hell wouldn’t you want to make it a bit easier to get work done??
Where do we go from here?
The far Left is pretty pissed, but you need to chill out. Congress and Obama are going to go a little to the Right, just to keep things moving along. Deal with it. The clock is ticking. 2012 should be fine if the big US Companies (who have kept unemployment high for 2 years for a reason, and that was 2 Nov 2010) start hiring again, things will improve.
The Left needs to just be patient. They need to get the youth registered to vote. And wait. In 15-20 years, the baby boomers will be tapering off, and the hippes of the 1960s/1970s will ring in the next big wave, as the elderly vote. It’s just a waiting game, and just a matter of time, until the Right becomes the fringe of society.
Short term: I hope all the Bush tax cuts expire. We have been under taxed for 12 years. We wouldn't have a deficit if we were not. And Small Businesses pay little or no tax, just like the big companies. They get tons of credits from Federal and State programs. Stop holding us hostage.
Tweak the Healthcare law, but repealing or "kicking" it will be impossible. I hope Republicans spend 2 years trying to pull that off. 2012 will be a cake walk.
Balance the budget, and make that the LAW: HHS, DOD, Welfare and Social Security need fixing/cutting. Start running a surplus and pay down the debt. These can be done fairly. The easiest; Discourage expansion of Welfare/Foodstamps, by not increasing payments if people pile up babies. You have one, you get this much, you have three kids, you get no more. A dick thing to say? Yep. Smart? Yep.
Notice I didn't mention Medicare? Keep your eyes open and you will see why.

My first exposure to Smut, was a racy calendar that my Grandpa had up at his work bench. I had to be about five years old, and I realized all the way back then, that this was on the edge of being smut.
Fast forward past the chance encounters with actual smut up till my teens, and we get to the point that I am 16 years old. This was when I was still to young to purchase smut, but damn I wanted it...
I took to shoplifting Playboy Magazines, from the local grocery store (you could get them there in the 1970's). I only stole about 5 of them, and I always picked up a Mad Magazine or Omni, to make up for it (a bit).
My "smut cave" was the traditional under mattress type, until it was all tragically lost in a house fire, on Easter day, in 1978. I can only guess God was punnishing me for my transgression?
It didn't stop me though (sorry God), and I was soon 18 years old and in the Navy, where I could buy all the smut I wanted, once boot camp was over.

I have been harping on the National Debt issue for years, way before Dick Cheney said "Deficits don't matter" on every talk show he could find, in 2004. Do a search for it, if you doubt it, I was watching it closely back then. Was Dick right or wrong??
Well, seems Mitch must have napped through all the calls to C-Span from Tea Party members saying "We are watching you", to the Republicans. I hope you (and I am talking to you Tea Party) rise up when Republicans raise the Debt Ceiling, just to give their big business buddies tax breaks. That is what is most important to them, and you will see that if you watch closely. We here in the middle get to pay for their Jaguars and Mansions, again and again. They won't cut anything either, and anything that does get cut, they will blame on Democrats somehow.
They think (the Pubs) that they played everyone into a lather, and won. Now they think they can cool off the Tea Party and get them to (again) bend over and take it for big business' bottom line. Hey, you never got a paycheck from a poor person, right? Please don't get fooled again, and pay close attention to what Congress actually does, not the lies they tell you during campaigns. Call them on the carpet in town halls, and contact them often. Let them know what you think of what they voted on each day. I do.
Look around you, see all the small businesses that folded before, or right after, Obama got sworn in? Were those Obama's fault? Seriously, were they? No, they were not. Small business' don't fold after a few bad quarters, it was a sustained effort that started after 2004. Middle class wages flat-lined (or fell), and companies accelerated shipping jobs to South America and Asia.
Well, you guys need to watch this stuff as close as the others are, so we can all pounce on the bad ones together in 2012.

About Those US 2010 Elections
Just wanted to say; I get totally drunk, then go vote. That way I don't remember what I did, and have no remorse over the next two years.
So GO REPUBLICANS! Hey, at the very least, they all have to work together, right? Simple obstruction will only kill you in 2012. They know this.
As far as Democrats go, they still have the power. Any "undoing" proposed by the House, will be killed in the Senate. It will cost Harry his job in 2012, which is more than fine. I was only happy for his return, because of the alternative (bye bye Engel).
Poor Sharron sails off into the Sunset, and since she thinks the world is flat, she will drop off the edge and never be heard from again. have a good trip.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the vote on raising the National Debt ceiling comes up. John (Orange) Bo[eh]ner will have to get real creative. I predict he increases it, but promises to immediately get out a big knife and start making cuts. He will then embrace everything Obama's Debt Commission (which he opposed) proposes. He did the same thing with his "Bum-Rush For America".
The Republicans drew the line they have to walk, for the next two years. They pounded "big spending elite" and "government takeover" into people's heads. Now you (John) have to walk that line. Good luck, your own members will revolt, and the Democrats can take a vacation. The Blue-Dogs can even join with you, and gain a lot of points...
On the up-side, 2012 is looking fantastic, because Democrats can sit back and watch for two years, while Republicans try to live up to their promises.

The Rally To Restore Sanity
I keep hearing people today ask "What did it mean, what was it for?". Well, it's simple folks: Over a half million people travelled from near (DC area), and far (California, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Nebraska were the ones I met) and all got together at the Mall in our Capital.
The core message we all wanted to send to our Government, was that they have to start working TOGETHER. To stop treating us (the people) like kids, trying to scare us with 1/2 truths or complete lies. And that isn't a partisan statement to make. Scaring people into agreeing with you, only works with dim-wits.
Think of it as your teacher, letting you know you need to play nice, and produce some real results. Not just say "No", and not just do whatever you want because you have a majority. Play nice kids, or we will take out every incumbent in both parties, and replace them. If we do that a few cycles in a row, there will be no "Parties" left. Hmm, that is not a bad idea actually, then it would just be Americans and their ideas. And a better assortment of tie colors.
