The Rally To Restore Sanity

It was pretty packed, to the point that I had to bug out.  I thought, "Mission accomplished" and I couldn't move closer, hear or see anything.

I keep hearing people today ask "What did it mean, what was it for?".  Well, it's simple folks:  Over a half million people travelled from near (DC area), and far (California, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Nebraska were the ones I met) and all got together at the Mall in our Capital.

The core message we all wanted to send to our Government, was that they have to start working TOGETHER.  To stop treating us (the people) like kids, trying to scare us with 1/2 truths or complete lies.  And that isn't a partisan statement to make.  Scaring people into agreeing with you, only works with dim-wits.

Think of it as your teacher, letting you know you need to play nice, and produce some real results.  Not just say "No", and not just do whatever you want because you have a majority.  Play nice kids, or we will take out every incumbent in both parties, and replace them.  If we do that a few cycles in a row, there will be no "Parties" left.  Hmm, that is not a bad idea actually, then it would just be Americans and their ideas.  And a better assortment of tie colors.

Asobi Seksu

The record label describes the name of the band as translating to "Playful Sex" in Japanese.

When Did Dockers Go Over The Cliff??

Christ, the new slacks I got looked great on the shelf, but after 3 washes, they look like someone is sneaking bleach into the wash. There are streaks in the colors, from wrinkles (I think). They look more like tie died slacks now.

Then I checked the label, made in Cambodia.

I think I will head up to Amish land in Pennsylvania and get some clothes made in America.

Leather Hands

This is actually really good embedded CGI, better than the young Jeff Bridges looks in the new Tron movie.

PS, I don't like big boobs, I find them silly to the point of being humorous.

US Sharia Law Laws

Ok, an ass of a Judge in Jersey (that should tell you something) let a guy off rape charges, of his wife, because it was in his "culture".  This was overturned and the guy went to jail.  Sharia Law is against the law in the US, so we don't need new "laws" against it.  But if you feel so strongly that your State's rules are weak, knock yourself out.

The Gift

Unfortunately, you can't play this truly "full screen", so watch in high def as big as it will let you.  It's Phillips showing off their new TV.

Come on, you guys enjoyed years of low taxes and now when the Gov has to tighten up on spending, you can offer to pay more, or work longer. Pick one. Stop bitching.

On the other hand, the majority of the currency of the world, has congealed with the top 5 or 10 percent of rich mother fuckers.  The middle class are slipping into poverty at an alarming rate.  If there is no money pay the middle class a decent wage, the economy slows, then stops.  Not sure if you heard of the Great Depression?

Harry Reid = Elite?

Paying $750K for a condo at the Ritz, is a bit extreme, though out of pocket. Why not a small house? Back in 2005 he paid his "staff" bonuses out of Campaign funds. Um, how did he ever get to be Majority Leader?

Though he paid it back, why didn't the Ethics Committee slap his ass down? Republicans were in charge then. Maybe they thought a really big slap was "over kill"? Or they bargained to keep things mild, because of the Tom Daschel(SP?) issue that was happening at the same time?

I dunno, but Reid staying at the fucking Ritz has me raising the question of some transparency, over the Congress' expenses.  How much are WE paying for?  We know (see earlier post) the cost of Congress is spiraling upward, at a time it should be waning.

At this point, if Nevada sends Sharron (who spells it that way?) or Harry to Washington, I (a Dem) won't be happy.  I can however revel in the fact, that the Ritz won't let Sharron Angel stay there.  No cages for coo coos.

Bye Tom Bosley

You had a honorable career and a long life (83). Well done, I hope. Only you know, and maybe the hired help. Safe home...

If over 36% of American's are already in a Socialized Healthcare system (Medicare/Medicaid/State/Federal Employees) how can so many of them be against it?  If anything, the other 64% should want in!!  Oh, that 36% includes every State and Federal member of Congress.  Hypocrisy.

Sudan Is About To Get Ugly, Again..

I never thought I would say "thank you" to George Clooney for educating me on an issue. He was on C-Span tonight raising awareness of the impending conflict and rallying the US to work with China and others to head off a blood bath.

I did some digging and found some pics of the root cause of Sudan civil war (I don't get putting the words Civil and War in the same sentence).

Back in the 1980s, Egypt pushed for a canal from southern Sudan all the way to Egypt, to ensure water supplies. The project started and the largest "moving" machine in the world was built. I expect by China, with US parts. Some pics of the remnants of the "Excavator" are below. Click them to see full size and soak in the scale of this man made beast.

No wonder a war broke out? The north was stealing the water supplies from the south...

One of the first things the south did, was to disable the "machine".

As detailed here, http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article32062  There is a pic of the whole giant Excavator in the story!

Egypt still wants the canal, and South Sudan wants independence. The vote is in early 2011, and the pre/post vote situation is likely to be very ugly.

France Needs Gas

The Labor Unions have cut off France's petrol supplies (even to the Paris Airport) because they are mad that the retirement age is being pushed from 60, to 62. Hey, they have wine that needs drinkin' and no time to waste workin'. We can only hope this should not impact the mimes hear the Eiffel tower.

Harold Lewis Seems Bright...

"It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist."

Yeah, he isn't happy about the debacle that is the global warming scam.  Me too.  There is no real science behind what they pronounce..

Unemployment Update...

The blue dot is about the time the Stimulus passed, it actually should be a little to the right.

So, if you carry the trend line July 08, to January 09; we would be approaching or above 20% unemployment.  That would be bad, right?

I expect after the November 3rd elections, companies will start hiring for the Holidays.  That will put money in people's pockets, which will increase spending after the holidays.  I am optimistic for next year.

Ford Gets Cut-throat

http://www.freep.com/article/20101009/BUSINESS01/10090322/

Ok, I get needing to do things "affordably", but paying a skilled/semi-skilled worker $14 an hour, equals less than $30K a year.  People can't live on that, even in/near Detroit.  Just a few dollars more would make a huge difference overall...  Come on, we know Americans are generally overpaid, but don't drive us into the ground so fast.

Send Jobs To China/Mexico

I was reading this story: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-jobs-offshoring-20101006,0,1485516.story

And I was aghast!  I had no idea how we were actually paying for companies to send their jobs to Asia and South America.  The Department Of Labor spells out how we have pay to cover workers, victims, of US companies sending jobs to other countries.

http://www.doleta.gov/tradeact/benefits.cfm

This about makes me puke.  Who thought this up?  As far as I can tell, Bush 1, started it, Bill Clinton signed it with modifications, and Bush 2 increased benefits to companies that moved jobs out of the US.

I want to throw up....
