More Music

Elizabeth And The Catapult are a musical anomaly. They have no label and just do their own thing, have fun. It has to infuriate the big music companies that the band is getting so much attention and they can’t cash in on it.

A segment they did on Billboard Underground..

She’s painfully cute and has a great voice. The band keeps it solidly simple.
I expect they will do great things if they can keep their feet on the ground and not wind up like Winehouse, ironically in Rehab.

Angélique Kidjo, from Africa is labeled “Afro Funk”, with a twist of everything else. Peter Gabriel has propelled her career forward and their collaboration tunes are getting some airplay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXGa1tMnbdk They are touring together too. She did an interesting Hendrix cover, of Voodoo Child.

Mezzanine by Massive Attack is interesting, electro um, something. I am not going to give you a link to their site, because it gave me a headache. I can appreciate them trying something different, VERY DIFFERENT, but I find it impossible to get to what I want. I don’t have time to solve the puzzles, I am too busy trying to survive the day.

The Brunettes are a trendy POP duo out of the UK. I can't think of who they remind me of, but it's someone. Crisp sound and not over-produced. http://www.myspace.com/thebrunettes

Eisley are a family band, like the Partridge’s were toted to be, but they really are. They are young and all cute and sound great. If you pick up the CD/DVD combo called Combinations, watch the DVD and tell me you don’t agree, that the Base player needs to drop some uppers! If he jumped around the stage it would add some much needed energy to their live shows. Actually, if any of them moved around, it could only help. They need to watch Stop Making Sense, by the Talking Heads. http://eisley.com/index.php Click on Gallery for photos and videos.
